COMP001Introduction to Computing
First Year

This course provides the overview of the Computing Industry and Computing profession, including Research and Applications in different fields; an appreciation of Computing in different fields such as Biology, Sociology, Environment and Gaming; an understanding of ACM requirements; an appreciation of history of computing; and knowledge of the the Key Components of Computer Systems  (Organization and Architecture), Malware, Computer security, internet and internet protocols, HTML 4/5, CSS.

 

This course is designed to provide students with an overview of computing fundamentals.  The materials covered in this course include concepts such as computer sytems, number system operation and conversion, data representation, digital logic system, levels of programming, computer networks, computer application, current trends and issues.
