The course examines the role of the Travel Agency and Tour Operator in the tourism industry, leading to a deeper understanding of the trade and its internal workings, as well as the role of each component in providing cost-effective and value-for-money products for each client. It includes topics such as tour products and their efficient development and marketing, as well as the organization and functions of travel agencies and tour operators. In addition to lecture classes, students are exposed to the skills required in the travel trade, including interpersonal and communication skills, terminology, documentation, procedures, and systems used.
This course equips students with the knowledge and skills to manage and operate a travel agency in the Philippines, fostering an entrepreneurial mindset. It integrates core travel agency functions with essential business skills and the principles of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (UNSDG) for responsible tourism practices (SDG 4, 8,9,11,12 &13)
