This course prepares students for the in-depth study of the principal tenets and theories of literary criticism advanced by leading critics from Plato's time to the 20th century. It also includes the discussion, analysis, and interpretation of the representative literary works of universally acclaimed writers. 

This course includes the fundamental concepts and principles in curriculum and curriculum development as a foundation to engage prospective teachers as curricularists. The more active role of the teacher in planning, implementing, and evaluating school curriculum as well as in managing school  curriculum change vis-a-vis various context of teaching-learning and curricular reforms shall be given emphasis (Based on CMO 75. s. 2017).

This is a 3-unit course that focuses on the principles, development, and utilization of alternative forms of assessment in measuring authentic learning. It emphasizes on how to assess process- and product-oriented learning outcomes as well as affective learning. Students will experience how to develop rubrics and other assessment tools for performance-based and product-based assessment (as per CMO 75, series of 2017, PSG for BSEd). Moreover, to be attuned with the current technological trends, this course included digital tools and online assessment platforms for authentic assessment. Furthermore, this course considered the assessment practices in basic education by covering topics on grading and reporting based on the official issuances of the Department of Education (DepEd).
