This course provides a systematic examination of the foundational philosophers and ideas that have shaped Western thought from modernity to Post-Kantian thought. Beginning with the modern thinkers, the course will trace the evolution of philosophical inquiry through the works of Descartes, Spinoza, Hume, Kant, and the Post-Kantian philosophers. The latter part of the course explores the integration and development of philosophical concepts the broader context of the thinkers. Through critical analysis of primary texts and scholarly commentaries, students will engage with enduring questions concerning reality, knowledge, ethics, and the nature of society.
