Database Management System 2 (DBMS 2) is a continuation of Database Management System 1, designed for students under the Diploma in Computer Engineering Technology program. This course focuses on advanced database concepts, relational database design, Structured Query Language (SQL) mastery, database transactions, normalization, indexing, and database administration. Students will gain hands-on experience in managing, securing, and optimizing databases, aligning with industry practices and preparing them for careers in database administration, systems development, and data-driven applications.
Learning Objectives
By the end of this course, students should be able to:
- Apply advanced SQL commands for database definition, manipulation, and querying in real-world applications.
- Analyze and design relational databases using normalization and entity-relationship modeling techniques.
- Implement database transactions with ACID properties to ensure integrity and consistency.
- Utilize indexing, stored procedures, triggers, and views for efficient database management.
- Demonstrate skills in basic database administration, security, and optimization techniques relevant to industry needs.
