Purposive Communication is a three-hour-per-week outcome-based course designed to develop students' communicative competence and enhance their cultural and intercultural awareness through multimodal tasks that provide them opportunities for communicating effectively and appropriately to a multicultural audience in local and global contexts. It aims to equip students with tools for critical evaluation of a variety of texts and focuses on the power effectively and responsively. The course explores intercultural communication, journalistic writing, business correspondence, and project proposal writing for community development among others. Central to this course is the elimination of linguistic and other barriers, in order specifically to prepare them to engage successfully in real-world communication scenarios.
